Mission

To provide an excellent distribution service to Irish language publishers and to ensure the supply of Irish language books in the marketplace.

Bord na Gaeilge established the Book Distribution Agency (ÁIS) in 1980 to distribute Irish language publications nationally and internationally. The responsibility of Bord na Gaeilge regarding ÁIS was transfered to Foras na Gaeilge in 1999.

Activities

During 2010 Áis supplied books to 286 bookshops throughout the island, 14 in Britain, 4 in continental Europe, 7 in the United States, and 1 in Australia. A total of 247,602 units were distributed during 2010 and turnover fell by 12.77% to €1,270,576.
